HMRC has the power to open a tax enquiry into any tax return or set of business accounts. You may well come under enquiry through no fault of you own or of you accountant as HMRC now investigates businesses at random as well as for specific reasons. Being the subject of a tax investigation can be a worrying experience and without expert advice can also be very costly.
